Come Sail Away With Me August 13, 2007

This is my last day of work here at the Cosmic Ray Division. I’m just wrapping up some loose ends here and compressing my drive so that I can fit the rest of the interns’ photos. If I collect everyone’s photos and videos, I believe I will be sitting on top of almost 80 Gigabytes of data. That seems pretty ridiculous, so my recommendation may be to have an official group camera for next year versus having everybody swap each others photos.

My project at CRD was a success, the time server is still broadcasting (Day 3) and all the computers are having no problem synchronizing with it. All interns are finished with their internships, and I am the only one at work (ironically). I don’t mind it though, I very much enjoy coming to work and without it today would be wasted. (more…)

…every day.

For instance, I had a lovely chat with a gentleman here at the physics institute who must be around 30 years old about science in Armenia. He told me that during soviet times, Armenia was a hub for science and learning. He also added (and here is something you don’t usually here and Armenian say) that while Soviet times were great, he was glad to see it go and he has very much enjoyed seeing a new infant Armenia grow into the country it is today; he also holds a lot of hope for the future. …Definitely more than meets the eye.

And that’s a big bill to fill especially when the movie already looked like the greatest thing ever. I saw it in Russian, didn’t understand a word, and I still thought it was one of the best things I’ve ever seen. My friend Will told me that not having it in English takes away so much from the movie, so I’m sure once I understand what they say it will be even cooler. I can’t even begin to describe the level of awesome this movie is at.  The distribution would be something like this:

—————————————————- TRANSFORMERS
—————————————————
———————————————
—————————————-

~add about [1.2 x (10^9)] Orders of Magnitude Here

===================
================= Finding the Ark of the Covenant
=============== Discovering Free Energy
==============
=============
============  Winning the Tour de France with one leg.
=========== Creating the Internet

Yea I think its pretty clear how significant Transformers is.  I can’t wait to find out what they were actually saying.  Plus the Moskovian theatre here is amazingly well built – I like it better than most American cinemas I’ve been at.  More pictures are coming online soon.
